MANGALORE: A day after the Voting-day, Dakshina Kannada district committee presidents of Congress and BJP equally expressed confidence of victory.
While district Congress committee president
Kodijal Ibrahim predicted victory of
B Janardhana Poojary, BJP district president Pratap Simha Nayak claimed more than 1 lakh lead for party candidate
Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Ibrahim said that the overwhelming response for party's harmony rallies and paadayatras in villages indicate victory of Poojary.
"We have seen unity among party workers in all blocks across the constituency. Party workers in large numbers showed enthusiasm and were keen to ensure victory of our candidate," he added.
Nayak said that people in the constituency have responded positively to BJP's Prime Minister candidate Narendra Modi's appeal to 'vote for India'. "The increased voting percentage will come as an additional advantage for the party. Young, especially the first time voters, demand a change in the administration. They have seen the performance of UPA government and now they are in favour of BJP," Nayak said adding that Kateel will win.
Both the party chiefs attributed the increased awareness and Election Commission's SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) initiative and party workers' enthusiasm responsible for the increase in the voting percentage.
