Cop slaps Chinese engineer

KARACHI - A cop of Pakistan Railway police allegedly slapped a Chinese engineer here on Friday at the Karachi Cant Station.
Constable Ejaz allegedly slapped a Chinese engineer after exchange of hard words at the railway workshop after which the Chinese engineers stopped working in protest. Around 15 Chinese engineers were working on the five locomotives at the railway workshop, which have reached Karachi from China recently.
Sources said Constable Ejaz and other railway police personnel, deployed for the security of the engineers, were trying to get inside the air-conditioned room to avoid temperature outside, but the engineer stopped them from doing so. Constable Ejaz, after brief arguments, slapped the engineer.
Railway Police SSP Robin Yamin, when contacted, said the constable had been booked and put behind bars while a departmental inquiry had been launched against him. “The constable has tendered apology, but proceedings against him will continue according to the law,” the SSP said.
