Thane: Parish priest Father Allwyn D’silva and a team of priests at Saint John the Baptist Church, Thane, organized a live Way around the church on Friday called ‘Way of the cross, behold the person’ to mark the occasion of Good Friday.
Fourteen stations of The Way were combined into five that witnessed the traditional walk to calvary, in which scenes from the Passion of Christ were enacted by youngsters.

It showcased the Pharisees with their weapons and Roman soldiers whipping Jesus on the way, while his own people jeered demanding to crucify him.
With their historical dresses and dialogues, the team of actors brought the era to life. The rally started from the church and it progressed across lake side grounds, Dagdi shala, Akruti on LBS marg and Tembi Naka Church.
The church has been organizing the live ‘Walk of the cross’ for the past three years. The specialty of this year’s rally was that youths were holding placards highlighting contemporary social and economical issues facing our society that includes corruption, politics and the general elections.
Expressing his view on social issues, Father Allwyn D’silva said, “Our aim is to reach out to the community and encourage them to right the wrongs.”
