Valpoi resident drowns in tributary of Valvonti river

Bicholim: A resident of Xelpem-Nagargao, Valpoi, Sattari, Fato Laxman Chorlekar, 42, drowned in the tributary of the Valvonti river on Thursday evening when he had gone there to take a bath along with his 12-year-old son. The river is around 400-500m from his house.
The Valpoi police said that Chorlekar went for a bath in the river after returning from work.He used to work as a daily wage worker. The police said that as Chorlekar couldn't be found in the water, the son panicked and rushed to his neighbourhood. The neighbours went to the spot and fished out his body. Chorlekar was declared brought dead to the Valpoi health centre. The police feel that he misjudged the depth of the river and lost control. His body was handed over to his relatives on Friday after conducting an inquest panchanama.
