An 18-year-old man arrested in Regina early Friday morning just couldn’t resist his late-night, salty snack cravings.

Police were called to the 2100 block of Broad Street around 5 a.m. after reports a man was chased in a parking lot by a suspect carrying a knife.

The victim ran into a nearby store before calling police and waiting for officers to arrive. Once police arrived, the victim pointed out the suspect on video using surveillance footage from the store.

The suspect, who was not on scene when police arrived, returned to the store to buy a bag of chips while officers were in the back watching surveillance footage.

He was waiting in line at the counter as police were leaving. He was promptly arrested.

The suspect was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon dangerous to the public and assault with a weapon.

Staff Sergeant Bob Koroluk, a spokesperson for the Regina police, was unsure what flavour of chips the suspect was purchasing.
