Slade demands O's improvement

Russell Slade called on Leyton Orient to improve going into their final three games after seeing them sink to a 2-1 defeat at Crawley.

Inconsistencies have plagued the O's in recent weeks and they have won only one of their last seven matches. Hopes were high that they had found some momentum after a thumping 5-1 home success over Gillingham last Saturday, but Orient contributed to their own downfall by conceding two poor goals. A right-footed toe-poke by Chris Dagnall shortly before the interval cancelled out Gwion Edwards's 26th-minute opener, but Crawley clinched their third successive victory 20 minutes from time when Andy Drury rose unchallenged to head home Mike Jones' cross. Slade said: "We accept that it is the play-offs for us now and we have to improve and do better. "We have to perform to a high standard if we are to go up." Slade said he felt he would need to have another look at the goals his side conceded, but his first impressions were that they were poor ones. He added: "We're very disappointed about both goals, they didn't look good I have to say. "The second one looked as though we weren't marking at all." The O's have failed to take a point in four meetings with Crawley and Slade felt the game could have gone either way. "Fair play to Crawley, they created a bit, but on another day it could have been a draw or a win for us," he said. "Now we are looking forward to receiving Wolves on Monday. They are a top team for a reason, the numbers don't lie and it will be the perfect measure for us."
