Police here are yet to trace the whereabouts of an auto rickshaw driver who was abducted at gunpoint by an unidentified man while he was on way to cast his vote on Thursday.

BAREILLY: Police here are yet to trace the whereabouts of an auto rickshaw driver who was abducted at gunpoint by an unidentified man while he was on way to cast his vote on Thursday.
Muhammad Yasin, 35, who plies an auto rickshaw near Shahdana shrine, left his house around 2 pm to vote at the polling booth in Gangapur butdid not return, police said.
His family members informed the police that Yasin called his friend Yunus at about 2.45 pm and told him that he was being forcibly taken away at gunpoint by an unknown man towards CB Ganj.
After Yunus’s call, his family went looking for him. Unable to locate him, a large number of people, including family and friends, gathered at Baradari police station. They demanded to know how Yasin could have been was abducted on polling day amid heavy police bandobast. They lodged an FIR and asked senior police officers to trace Yasin. They alleged that Yasin had a dispute with a shopkeeper who might have a hand in his abduction.
Rajeev Malhotra, SSP, city, said Yasin could not have been abducted for ransom as he is a poor man.
