Taliban can agree on ceasefire if government releases their captives: Prof. Ibrahim

Peshawar- Prof. Ibrahim, member of Taliban negotiating committee, has said that the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) can agree on ceasefire if the government met their demands.
“The major complaint they (Taliban) have is that their non-combatants are not being released. We are striving to convince them on the ceasefire but it is possible once the government released their prisoners,” Ibrahim spoke to media today.
“We can find the way out if government demonstrated sincerity,” said Prof. Ibrahim who is also Jamaat-e-Islami leader. He said both government and Taliban are in contact for the exchange of captives. “There should be no war at all cost. We hope the matters will not get worse.”
Taliban announced on Wednesday that they would not extend a ceasefire, but said they were still committed to the peace talks process.
