DEFENSE MINISTER VISITING JAPAN

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolia’s Minister of Defense D.Bat-Erdene is paying an official visit to Japan at an invitation of his counterpart Itsunori Onodera. The Minister’s visit will continue until Saturday. Mongolia and Japan launched military collaboration from June of 2000 since the countries established the diplomatic relations in 1972. In 1995, the Mongolia’s Minister of Defense Lieutenant-General Sh.Jadamba paid a visit for the first time to Japan, whereas a deputy head of the Japan’s National Security Department (NSD) Mr Yoshiaki Hootsuki paid a working visit to Mongolia in 1997. In January 2012, the Japan’s Minister of Defense Mr Yasuo Ichikawa visited Mongolia. Furthermore, the National Security Department, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Mongolia and Japan hold the first meeting in 2013 in Tokyo, Japan. Some 40 servicemen of Mongolia have finished the Defense Academy of Japan since 1999. In addition, Mongolian military officers and servicemen are being involved in training-seminars on security in ARF countries and on combating disasters. In January of 2012, the Defense Ministries of the countries established a cooperation memorandum.
