Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has reportedly backed boss David Moyes to reverse the club's fortunes with a number of new signings this summer despite the club's worst Premier League season.

Mata, who joined United from Chelsea in January for 37.1million-pounds, said that things at United were difficult even before he came there, so he knew that he was not coming to a side that would always win.

According to the BBC, Mata said that he has no doubt the Moyes would once again return the club to its previous state with a number of new signings.

The midfielder said that when he joined, the manager and the board members had told him that they were confident about getting the right players for the club.

Mata also said that the club's hierarchy as well as he himself knows that United is in a transitional moment, but in the summer they are going to sign a few players and he has faith that they are going to bring the top players in.

Mata said that he is sure that United is going to come back and fight for every trophy.

United, who have always finished in the top three since 1991, currently lie at the seventh place and Moyes is set to miss out on Champions League qualification, given the clubs poor show in the Premier League this season, the report added. (ANI)
