Rajeev Ravi, who won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for
Liar’s Dice, directed by his wife Geethu Mohandas, says it was more like a journey than a film shoot. “We travelled from the Chitkul village in the Himalayas to Simla and then to Delhi. It gives me great pleasure to receive the award, but the happiness is even more when I think of the fact that we were a very small crew, a group of friends actually,” he says.
There was nothing special in terms of technicalities; we used the basic sound and camera, says Rajeev, who had won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography in 2010 for
Dev D. So did the fact that Geethu was the director offer him more freedom as a cinematographer? “Not at all. I enjoy freedom everywhere, whoever I am working with,” he says.
