An overwhelming number of people of all ages participated in a massive rally in Pulivendula town as YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy proceeded atop his campaign vehicle, greeting people with folded hands, to file nomination for Pulivendula Assembly constituency on Thursday.
As scores of persons followed alongside with enthusiasm and people greeted from house-tops, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy’s convoy proceeded at a slow pace from the YSR Congress office at Bhakrapuram in Pulivendula town to the tahsildar office, as men and women showered flower petals from roof-tops all along the route.
His security personnel had a tough time in preventing flowers from constantly landing on him, despite holding aloft large towels.
Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy filed three sets of nomination papers with the Returning Officer of Pulivendula B. Anil Kumar Reddy at around 1 p.m. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy who was twice elected to Parliament from Kadapa, is contesting for the Assembly for the first time now. YSR Congress will gain power and ‘Rajanna rajyam’ will return to effectively implement all the welfare schemes introduced by his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Mr. Jagan said while addressing a public meeting at Poola Angallu circle. He called upon the people to vote YSRC to power.
The YSRC president proceeded via the Jubilee bus stop and four-roads circle to file his papers. His paternal uncles Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and Y.S. Prakash Reddy and father-in-law E.C. Gangi Reddy, who proposed his candidature and his uncle Y.S. Manohar Reddy were present when he filed nomination in the RO’s chamber in the Pulivendula tahsildar office.
Earlier, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and his wife Bharathi offered prayers at YSR Samadhi at Idupulapaya by placing wreaths. Mr. Jagan placed his nomination papers at the Samadhi and prayed for his father’s blessings. The YSRC chief would campaign in Proddatur, Mydukur, Kamalapuram and Kadapa constituencies on April 18, YSRC district president K. Suresh Babu told newsmen here.
