It is now confirmed that Lisa Haydon, who was last seen in Vikas Bahl’s Queen, has been signed to play the lead in the remake of Basu Chatterjee’s 1982-comedy, Shaukeen. She will reprise the role of Rati Agnihotri from the original film.
The film is expected to take off on April 16 in India, after which the cast will fly down to Mauritius for a month long schedule. While confirming Haydon’s presence in the film, director Abhishek Sharma, who had earlier directed Tere Bin Laden, said, “I was bowled over by Lisa’s performance in Queen. I loved her sensuality, hotness and brilliant acting. I think she is a great actor and hence, I decided to cast her in my film.”
The film stars Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra and Annu Kapoor, who will be seen reprising the roles enacted by Mithun Chakraborty, veterans Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A.K. Hangal in the original film. “I am quite excited about the project as it is the first time I will be working with big actors. I have seen the original film only once and though the premise is the same, it has now been adapted by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Sai Kabir. What else can I want? I hope I can do justice to the project which will be shot in India and abroad,” said Sharma. The film will be produced by Ashwin Varde.
Meanwhile, the sequel to Tere Bin Laden has turned out well, said Sharma adding that the post-production is going on. “There is a lot of VFX and that is the reason why the film is taking some time to complete. The film, with Manish Paul in the lead, should be ready by June-July and the producers may announce the release date,” said the director.
