New chief executive for Bentley

Bentley Motors has appointed a new chairman and chief executive to succeed Wolfgang Schreiber.

Wolfgang Dürheimer, who is currently general representative of the Volkswagen Group responsible for motorsport, will take up the role at the Crewe-based luxury car marker in June.

Schreiber, who has been chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors since September 2012, will take up a new position in the Volkswagen Group.

Dürheimer has previously worked at BMW and Porsche and was chief executive of Bentley Motors from 2011 until September 2012 prior to joining the board of Audi.

Dr Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the board of management of Volkswagen AG, said: "I would like to thank Wolfgang Schreiber for his successful work with Bentley and Bugatti and the consistent further development of the two brands."

Last month Bentley reported a record £1.4bn turnover and announced plans to create 100 jobs in Crewe.
