Tantrik Mohit Parab arrested by the Matunga Police for allegedly duping a man of over Rs 55 lakh by promising him limitless wealth, has left ample evidences for the police to make a water tight case against him.

Parab would ask his naive victims to deposit money for advice on feng shui and black magic by cheque or cash. Cops have succeeded in tracing this.

Victim Nitant Kapadia, who slept with a frog, watched motorised bead spin, and even ordered imported feng shui objects for amassing limitless wealth on the advice of Parab, had deposited around Rs 34 lakh through cheque and Rs 18 lakh in cash in Parab's account.

According to the Matunga police, there was clear evidence of financial transactions between Parab and Kapadia, and that would cost Parab dearly. The police have now written to Kotak Mahindra Bank to freeze Parab's account until further instructions.

The police claimed that during investigations they had also recovered papers of three plots that Parab had bought in Wada. Investigations have revealed that Parab had used Kapadia's money to buy these plots of land.

Investigating officer API Deepak More said: "We have recovered papers related to the land, and from the bank transactions it was clear that the payments for the land had been made after Kapadia had deposited the money in Parab's account."

He added: "We have come across one more bank account of Parab and are going through the transactions in it as well."

Interestingly, Kapadia, who followed Parab's instructions (to gain wealth) to the last syllable, failed to gain any. To gain his victim's trust, Parab had even returned some money. The API said: "Parab had realised that he would not be able to retain Kapadia's trust for long, and hence returned some money saying his "suggestions were not yielding the desired result."

The Matunga Police are probing to see if Parab had duped more people in order to make a watertight case against him. After Parab was arrested, another of his victim, Sangeeta Keni, came forward to record her statement. She has claimed that he had cheated her in a similar fashion last May and she lost a few lakh of rupees in the bargain.

According to the police, there would be more such victims, but they are not coming forward to register compliant.
