Mexican singer Juan Gabriel, who on Monday was hospitalized and diagnosed with pneumonia, is now listed in “very stable condition ” in Las Vegas where he is resting. Additionally, new tour dates have been announced for shows he canceled this week in Los Angeles.
The legendary showman, who has taken to social media to let his fans know he’s doing better and eager to give them a great show, cancelled a pair of shows at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles April 16 and 17 in addition to the cancellation of the an April 19 show at SAP Center in San Jose.
The April 16 Nokia show is now rescheduled for May 28 and the April 17 Nokia concert is now slated for May 8. The San Jose show will take place on May 28, according to Gabriel’s Los Angeles-based representatives.

Shows purchased for the April 16 Nokia date will be honored on May 28 and shows for the April 17 will automatically be accepted at the May 8 show. If ticket holders cannot make the new show dates, refunds will be available through May 1 at the original point of purchase. Tickets for the San Jose show will also be honored on the new date, but can also be returned at the original place of purchase.

“There is no better medicine than the beautiful wishes from so many loved ones,” Gabriel last wrote on his twitter account. “All that you wish for me I want returned to you.”
The U.S. leg of the singer’s tour began earlier this month on April 3 with two sold out shows at the Allstate Center in Chicago. Sold out shows followed at Madison Square Garden, the Toyota Center in Houston and the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas where, according to reports, the singer performed about 3 hours for fans who had not seen him in the U.S. for about 7 years.
Gabriel was admitted to an intensive care unit and after performing in Las Vegas on Sunday. He had a fever and congestion, according to his publicist. He was taken to Southern Hills Hospital.
Gabriel began his career in the ’70s and went on to become one of Mexico’s most celebrated singer/songwriters. A prolific songwriter, Gabriel is best known for composing iconic pop songs and ballads such as “No tengo dinero,” “Siempre en mi mente” and “El Noa Noa.”
The entertainer has frequently been on the Billboard charts and has sold 2.6 million albums to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On Top Latin Albums, he has 10 Top 10s (and one No. 1). He has a 28-year charting career on Hot Latin Songs. His first charting title “Yo No Se Que Me Paso” spent four weeks at No. 1 in 1986. He’s had seven No. 1s total, and 19 top 10s.
The singer’s longest running No. 1 was “Abrazame Muy Fuerte” in 2001 and he has 17 Top 10 titles on Latin Pop Albums (two No. 1s), tying with Ednita Nazario for the third-most top 10s on the chart.
