VCA wants BCCI to call emergency Working Committee meeting
NAGPUR: The image of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has hit the nadir. The apex court has rejected N Srinivasan's plea to reinstate him as board's chief, saying he had effectively turned a blind eye to allegations of wrongdoing in the Indian Premier League. While most of the associations have been silent on the issue, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA)—the parent association of ex-BCCI president Shashank Manohar—has expressed shock and wants the board to tell its affiliated members about the issue.

"I am shocked after hearing the observations of judges. This is the high time we must take some action. In the interest of the game and image of the board in the country and worldwide, the BCCI must call an emergency Working Committee meeting. I have already written to the interim BCCI president Shivlal Yadav to call the meeting. The members know what's going on. At the moment, we are unaware of what's happening. The Supreme Court has asked BCCI to do the clean up job itself. This is good opportunity to take some tough decision," VCA president Prakash Dixit told TOI on Wednesday.
"I am representing that association, which has always been clean. Our past BCCI president (Manohar) had set some standard but unfortunately things are going nowhere at the moment," Dixit added.
Srinivasan, who has been asked to stay away from BCCI by the Supreme Court till the IPL fixing probe gets, is not giving it up yet. He has been widely criticized by the likes of Lalit Modi, Inderjit Singh Bindra and Niranjan Shah. Even Manohar wants Srinivasan to step down. "The Supreme Court's observation is that there are very serious allegations made in the report and unless the BCCI president steps down, no fair probe can be conducted," Manohar had said in a statement on March 26.
