JMC intensifies drive against food adulteration

JAMMU, Apr 16: Intensifying its drive against the menace of food adulteration, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today picked up samples of different type of food items from various food establishments in Jammu City and its outskirts and sent them to Food Analyst Jammu for ascertaining their standard of purity.
According to a JMC spokesperson, Health Officer, Dr Mohd Saleem Khan along with a team of Food Safety Officers inspected various food establishments including restaurants, dhabas, tea stalls, meat shops, sweet shops and fruit juice corners in Prem Nagar, Bahu Plaza, Green Belt Park Gandhi Nagar, Narwal, Upper Bazar, Karan Nagar, Vikram Chowk etc.
During the drive samples of Turmeric Powder from M/s Madan Lal & Sons, Karan Nagar, Baking Powder from M/s Ahuja General Store, Upper Bazar, Garam Masala and Homogenised Toned Milk from M/s Manhas Provisional Store, Narwal, were lifted and sent to Food Analyst Jammu for ascertaining their standard of purity.
About 5 Kg of Polythene bags were also seized from 16 defaulters and a fine of Rs 3300 was realized on the spot.
