The rapper Nas won’t be the only musician performing in support of a documentary (“Time Is Illmatic”) at the Tribeca Film Festival. Quincy Jones, producer of the music doc “Keep on Keepin’ On,” has recruited jazz stars Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves and Roy Hargrove to join the subject of that film, 23-year-old, blind piano prodigy Justin Kauflin, for a concert following the doc’s premiere April 19.
The performance will serve as a tribute to jazz legend Clark Terry, 93, who is seen as a mentor to Kauflin in the film as the young musician overcomes his stage fright to perform in an international competition. “Keep on Keepin’ On” was co-written and directed by Al Hicks.
