GUWAHATI: BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's campaign in the state is all set to go hi-tech with the state going to the polls on Thursday. Besides physically campaigning for his party, Modi will appear before voters with the help of 3D technology.
BJP Assam in charge Sudhanshu Mittal said here on Wednesday that Modi will address election rallies at Bilasipara in Dhubri on Thursday through 3D.
"Modi will address the public through this technology and it will be as if he is speaking in front of them. For the first time, BJP is using this technology to campaign in Assam. The voters in Bilasipara will be able to listen to Modi from 6 pm to 8 pm," Mittal explained.
Modi will also hold election rallies in Mangaldoi, Nagaon and Bongaigaon on April 19 to campaign for the third phase of polling to be held on April 24. He added that BJP will initiate a "carpet bombing" campaign by bringing prominent party leaders in Assam.
"L K Advani, Subramanian Swamy, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Najma Heptullah and Shatrughan Sinha are some of the BJP leaders who will campaign for the party in Assam in the third phase," Mittal said. BJP has also announced an intensified "matdata sampark" (mass contact with voters) drive to maximize voter turnout on the day of polling. Mittal claimed that in the first and second phases, booth-level workers in the constituencies launched an fierce drive to ensure that maximum voters came to the polling stations to cast their votes.
"This accounts for the significantly high turnout in the first two phases. This is a clear indication that people want change," Mittal said. He added that BJP would apply the same strategy in the run-up to the third phase of polling. "A team of 14 to 15 BJP workers will launch a mass contact programme with voters in 9,607 polling stations in the constituencies where our party has fielded candidates. The basic objective is to ensure that voters come to vote on the polling day. The team will also speak about good governance and Modi's vision for change. ," Mittal said.
