Thieves strike house in Saligao

CALANGUTE: Gold and other valuables worth 1,30,000 were stolen from a house in Saligao recently. A complaint lodged at the Calangute police station by Esmenta D'Souza, a resident of Mellowado, Saligao, states that some unknown persons effected entry into her house by breaking the latch of the main door and robbed a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings, a ring, two statues of Jesus Christ, a dish TV antenna and other items, all amounting to 1,30,000.
The theft was committed between April 10 and April 14 when the residents were not at home. Calangute police have registered an offence under Sections 457 and 380 IPC. PSI Nitin Halarnkar is conducting further investigations.
