Jharia CO raps parties using private properties
SINDRI: Jharia circle officer (CO) Sagri Baral on Wednesday launched a drive to indentify those political parties which are hoisting party flags on private properties without permission in the Jharia assembly segment in Dhanbad parliamentary constituency.
Acting on the complaints received the CO sent a flying squad to all 346 booths in the assembly segment to verify the truth.
During the drive, more than two dozen suspected cases of defacement of public and private properties came to light. The teams formed under the flying squad have got all such cases videographed. Notices have been served to not only the political parties involved but also the private property owners for removing them or for seeking fresh permission to hoist party flags and banners.
A team led by Ramesh Prasad Singh and Sindri DSP Ramashankar Singh launched the drive in Sudamdih locality where Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers got into a show of strength and hoisted party flags inside a BCCL quarter.
Even if the political parties have taken permission for using private buildings for the purpose, it is mandatory to inform the returning officer (RO) within three days of getting the permission.
There was a scuffle between Congress and TMC workers on Tuesday evening for using the BCCL quarter in Sudamdih locality in Jharia assembly segment for the purpose.
When contacted, officer in charge of Sudamdih police station Kanhaiya Ram said since no party has lodged a written complaint, no case has been registered.
