MUMBAI:
Madhav Bhandari, BJP spokesperson for Maharashtra, has complained against
Mayank Gandhi, the
AAP candidate for North Mumbai, alleging that Gandhi attended ‘Sai Bhandara’ with supporters wearing his party topi and sporting the pary’s election symbol.
On April 11, Bhandari complained to the chief electoral officer, Maharashtra, the Election Commissioner of India, Bangur Nagar police station as well as the commissioner of police.
Bhandari has requested authorities to take “prompt action” against Gandhi for allegedly breaching the model code of conduct under various provisions of law, including the “Information Technology Act, 2000”. In response, Gandhi said: “I was invited for Sai Bhandara lunch like all other candidates. I went there and had lunch. There was no campaigning nor asking for votes.”
