Majithia: Preneet indifferent to Punjabis in Texas jail

Majithia: Preneet indifferent to Punjabis in Texas jail
Marari Kalan: After attacking Congress candidate from Amritsar, Amarinder Singh, Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia has now trained guns at minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur, questioning her silence about hundreds of Punjabis languishing in processing centres of US Immigration and Custom Enforcement, Texas, since July 2013. Sitting MP Preneet is also Congress nominee for Patiala Lok Sabha seat.

Talking to TOI on Wednesday at Marari Kalan village in Amritsar, Majithia alleged that Preneet had failed to provide counselor access to jailed Punjabis who were in a miserable condition in various processing centres of Texas. Majithia also addressed rallies in support of SAD-BJP candidate Arun Jaitley.
"It is surprising that scores of representations by families of jailed persons to the foreign affairs ministry have failed to move the royal heart, who has failed to discharge her primary duty towards people of Punjab as the minister of state for external affairs," alleged Majithia, adding that the government didn't even send lower-level Indian embassy officials to meet the detainees.
"Whether it is public tossing of turbans of Sikhs at international airports of France, Italy, US and Australia and increasing attacks on Punjabis in Philippines, US, Australia and Italy, rani sahiba has miserably failed to protect interests of Punjabis abroad," alleged Majithia. He said that instead of lodging a protest against French president during his visit to India about the ban on turbans in their educational institutions, Preneet hosted a dinner for him.
Accusing Amarinder for ignoring interests of Punjabis, Majithia said, "People of Punjab have understood one fact that this royal couple is only available during election time and forgets them afterwards." He claimed that people of Amritsar and Patiala, going by their past humiliation at the gates of Moti Mahal (residence of Amarinder and Preneet), had already vowed to give lifetime drubbing to the royal couple to keep them in the confines of their palace.
He also blamed Amarinder for using "foul" language against him. "He uses bad words as he is baffled and mentally upset because he was not intending to contest polls but was forced to do so," Majithia quipped.
