Jagan, Sharmila attack Naidu

Jagan Mohan Reddy said Mr Naidu had failed to serve people during his tenure

Anantpur/Khammam: YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy continued his criticism of Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said Mr Naidu had failed to serve people during his nine year tenure.

He claimed that several poor parents had to sell off their valuable lands just to ensure quality education of their children under the TD regime.

The YSRC chief said no poor student ever suffered such a problem when Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was the chief minister, as the fee reimbursement scheme was implemented across the state.

He promised people at in Kalyanadurgam, in Anantapur, that he would make every village free of belt-shops.

Taking part in a road show, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Telugu people were once subjected to the horrible rule of TD supremo Chandrababu Naidu, and that YSR’s tenure was “golden”.

Pointing out that Mr Naidu had cheated his own father-in-law for political power, he asked: “How such a man can be trusted?”

The YSRC president said his party would never lie to the electorate. “I cannot lie like Mr Naidu and I am known for my credibility, which is my inheritance.”

He even claimed that his five signatures would “change the fate of the people in the state.”

Meanwhile, YSRC leader Sharmila, on the fourth day of her campaign, addressed road shows at Penuballi and Wyra, along with Lok Sabha candidate Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. Ms Sharmila emphasised on the need for a government that takes care of people.

“The last few years, especially after YSR’s death, have been nightmarish for the poor and the downtrodden in the state,” she said,

She said that the nexus between the ruling and Opposition parties had left people in lurch.

She said Mr Naidu is like a chameleon that can change colours at any given opportunity.
