A teacher at Maxfort School in Rohini has been accused of molesting a student within the school premises. Parents of the girl, an eight year old, alleged the teacher molested their daughter in August last year and, for the second time, in April.

The teacher allegedly touched the girl inappropriately.

On Wednesday, the father of the girl, along with several other parents, protested outside the school, demanding action against the principal. The parents alleged that the principal was informed of the incident, but failed to take any action.

Police said the girl was allegedly molested by the teacher on April 4 following which her parents lodged a complaint with the school. Other parents, who took part in the protest, too alleged that their children had made similar complaints in the past, but that they had not taken it seriously.

Festive offer

Speaking to Newsline, school principal Ragini Kaul said she received a written complaint from the father of the girl on April 11. “The following day after I received the complaint was a non-working day. I have already told the management to institute a committee to take action in favour of the child. In fact, the meeting of the committee was scheduled at noon today (Wednesday). We have asked the teacher to tender his resignation. He did not report to work on Wednesday.”

The principal denied allegations that she had not taken action against the teacher. “I am a woman and I understand what the child must have gone through. The parents got carried away because we could not act in the last three days. There is a procedure and we were just following it,” she said.
