Twin Towers set to get city’s first 5-star clubhouse
The club, to open in three weeks’ time, will be exclusive to the resident of the two towers.

The ‘twin towers’ in Tardeo will soon become the first residential complex in the city to have a super luxury clubhouse entirely managed by a 5-star hotel chain.

The best known luxury hospitality chain in the country, the Taj Group, will run the club house at The Imperial, better known in the city as the ‘twin towers’. Work on converting three floors of the towers into a clubhouse is in full swing.

The twin towers, completed in 2010, have 228 super-luxury flats. The 30,000 square foot clubhouse will be ready in a few weeks’ time. SD Corp, the developers, and the Taj Group have already signed a deal.

Amit Thacker, director of SD Corp confirmed the development. “Work on the clubhouse is in progress and it will be managed by the Taj Group. It will be open for use exclusively to our residents over the next few weeks,” he said.

Both SD Corp and the Taj Group are otherwise tight-lipped about the details of the club project. It appears that the clubhouse was planned eight years ago when construction of the towers began, but work on making it happen started only a month ago.

The club will have a luxury gymnasium, an indoor pool, a restaurant, a multipurpose hall, a swanky children’s play area, pool tables and a table tennis room, among other facilities.

Insiders reveal that the developers, SD Corp - a joint venture of the Shapoorji Pallonji group and real-estate developer Dilip Thacker -- wanted to offer not just a state-of-the-art club house to the 228 resident families in the ‘twin towers’ , but also position themselves as developers who offer luxury.

The clubhouse, according to sources, will come at a price to the residents. The one-time fee is yet to be finalised.

While The Imperial will be first residential project in the metropolis to have such a clubhouse, Mukesh Ambani’s residence on Altamount Road has a grand ballroom which is served by staff trained by the luxury hospitality chain Oberoi Hotels.
