The former GlaxoSmithKline site at Greenford Green could make way for homes, retail and a new cinema.

Ealing Council's planning committee will be asked to approve plans for a mixed use scheme in Greenford Road consisting of nearly 600 new homes, food and retail outlets, leisure facilities and a new public open space along canal side.

If approved by councillors on April 23 the new complex could create as many as 235 jobs.

Nick Cooper, community planning director at Iceni Projects - which has led the planning and local consultation on the project, said: "The whole team are very proud of these proposals, which are the culmination of years of intensive work and engagement.

"We would like to thank the local authority, local residents, businesses and politicians in Greenford who have been so helpful and constructive throughout the process."

Since 2011, owner of the site Stolkin Greenford Ltd and their consultant team have been working closely with Ealing council and the community with the sole purpose of reviving the site and putting it back into use.

Plans include the reopening of Berkeley Avenue and the conversion of the Grade II Listed Glaxo House, which was originally built in the 1930s, into modern residential units. The northern section of the site already has a business and education hub and two modern office buildings which are expected to remain.

If permission is granted, the team would aim to start work on the site later this year. The project is expected to bring an economic and employment boost to the area.
