Google Glass robbery victim threatened with Taser

VENICE, Calif. - A Venice, Calif. man was robbed of his Google Glass and a laptop computer after being threatened with a Taser, police said Tuesday, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The incident, which took place around 8 p.m. Monday at a waterside café, comes just days after a reporter says he had his Google Glass snatched from his face while walking down the sidewalk in San Francisco.

On Tuesday, for one day only, Google opened up the sale of its wearable computer to any adult in the United States. Previously, the company only had an "Explorer" program which allowed a limited number of applicants to purchase the $1,500 gadget.

Google Glass has its fair share of critics, some of whom believe the camera-equipped frames make it easy to violate someone's privacy.

Jamie Court of Consumer Watchdog has even gone as far as to call for a boycott of the new technology.

"We're very concerned about how when this falls into hands of criminals, of pedophiles, of others who can easily share with others in their community and then target children," Court told the station.

Google has attempted to address common concerns by publishing a list of do's and dont's when wearing the frames.

The company reportedly hopes to officially release Google Glass later this year.
