Did he have any apprehensions in playing this character? Says Vatsal, "When producer Siddharth Malhotra (director of We Are Family) first offered me this part, I asked him, "'Are you sure you want me to do this?' I was excited to play this character but I have always had this sweet, likeable, lovable chocolate boy image so I was not sure if they knew what they wanted. When they assured me, they were looking for somebody with a sweet face to be this menacing person later, I was on."

The response to the first two episodes aired on Star Plus has been encouraging. He says, "I have been getting some amazing reactions. Someone else told me that I should be more mean. People have liked the shades of grey in my character. And yes it's difficult to get into the mind of a grey character who is also a rapist."

He adds, "People still today call me Tarzan (taking reference from his first film - Tarzan The Wonder Car) hopefully after Ek Hasina Thi I will leave an imprint as Shaurya Goenka."
