PHL Congen in HK closed until Easter Monday

Filipinos in Hong Kong may have to wait until Tuesday next week before conducting transactions with the Philippine Consulate General there.

The Consulate General on Wednesday announced on its Facebook page that it will be closed from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday.

It said this was "in observance of the Philippine and Hong Kong holidays."

During the days the consulate general is closed, it said there will be no issuance of Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs).

An OEC is a requirement of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration to ensure overseas Fiipino workers are documented and protected.

It is necessary for a household service worker or any overseas Filipino worker who returns to the Philippines for home leave, and intends to return to the host country.

OEC holders are exempted from paying the travel tax and airport terminal fee. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
