Subhasree and I can go for a long drive at 3 am: Ankush
He has romanced the beautiful Srabanti and the naughty Nusrat Jahan on screen and this time round, Tollywood Khiladi Ankush will be seen sharing screen space with Subhasree in Ashok Patis upcoming flick Ami Sudhu Cheyechi Tomay.
In a freewheeling chat with CT, the actor talks about his role in the film and his chemistry with Subhasree. Excerpts:
Tell us about your character in Ami Sudhu Cheyechi Tomay.
Can you relate to him in your real life?
I play Abhi, a lonely boy who craves for friendship and always searches for a special friend, be it in school or in college. The film is about how Abhi meets Bhoomi, played by Subhasree, and seeks her friendship. There is a lot of sorrow in the film and I am sure it will appeal to the audience. But I am in no way similar to my reel character. I could connect to him only during the college scenes.
You have worked with Srabanti and Nusrat in your earlier films. How was it like working with Subhasree?
Srabanti was my first heroine and she is a gem of a person. The way she had put me at ease was commendable. I have always tried to maintain friendly relations with my heroines. Same goes for Subhasree, with whom I am working for the first time. Both of us hail from Bardhaman, so it was easier working with her. We understand each other well and can even converse through sign language.

There has been a buzz about you dating Subhasree...
Na na, ekdom na. I am not dating anyone. Subhasree and I are very good friends and I really dont care what people think when they see us together. We think alike and she is someone who I can go out for coffee or a long drive even at 3 am.
What do you think is the USP of this film?
Ami Sudhu Cheyechi Tomay is a passionate love story, unlike Khiladi, which was an out-and-out romantic comedy. This has a serious plot and required some serious acting. I have played the romantic hero and the keora character, but this film was entirely different. We have also shot abroad, but our producer wanted to explore a few locations in India. So we decided to shoot the title track in the Rann of Kutch. The director has done a great job in giving smoothness to the way the story unfurls.
There are two new choreographers in the film. Was it difficult picking up the steps?
Adil and Jayesh Pradhan have done a fantastic job! They have worked in big Bollywood projects. It was great fun working with the duo. They made dancing look easy with simple, yet catchy steps. I had a ball!

Feeling nervous ahead of the release?
I saw the final tape and felt good about the film and the way we all worked. I am positive about the audience reaction.
