HAZARIBAG: Police arrested Maoist cadre, Ramu Manjhi, son of Budhan Manjhi, from Telaiya village under the Bishnugarh police station on Monday night. Acting on a tip off, officer in charge of Bishnugarh police station, Dinesh Kumar Singh raided Ramu Manjhi's residence with his team and succeeded in arresting him.
Dinesh Kumar Singh said security has been beefed up in the district before the polls.
Police have been conducting regular search operations in the locality to keep a check on illegal activities. After Maoist posters calling for poll boycott were noticed in the area, police intensified its search operation.
Singh said, in Bishnugarh alone, Manjhi was wanted in 13 cases and police suspect he was here to interrupt poll proceedings on April 17.
"We are interrogating Manjhi to know more about his activities and accomplices," Singh said.
Meanwhile, three bombs were found from a jungle in adjoining Ramgarh district on Tuesday, police said.
The bombs were found from a hideout near the national highway that connects Ranchi to Patna.
"Local people informed us about the explosives after they chanced upon it," a police officer said.
Police suspect that Maoist guerrillas might have planted the bombs to disrupt peace in the locality.
