Toyota Kirloskar Motor has future plans to continue their focus in luxury and MPV car segment. Vikram Kirloskar, company's Vice-Chairman announced that the company will no longer produce small cars in Indian auto market. He further added that the company will focus on bigger car models in Indian auto sector.

In the country, the small car market (under Rs 4lakh) contributes more than 50% of the total cars sold which includes Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Eon, Hyundai i10, etc. But Toyota has no plans of manufacturing small cars and infact will pay more attention in the manufacturing cars like Corolla Altis and Innova. Moreover, the company is about to launch the Etios Cross on 7th May while the booking of Next Generation Toyota Corolla Altis have already started.

Mr Kirloskar also added, “Mass market segment is not for Toyota. I think Toyota’s game will be in bigger car segments such as Corollas and Innovas segment. We have tried hard to break the cost-barrier in the small car segment, but we have just not been able to do so.”

Even in the B segment, the company failed to acquire any substantial hold as the Etios Liva contributed only about 9537 units in last six months with the graph decreasing every month.
