Road Safety Cell inaugurated

KOCHI: Excise Minister K Babu inaugurated the Road Safety Cell, under the Motor Vehicles Department, at the Vyttila Mobility Hub on Friday.Apart from being the monitoring body of all the vehicles operating through the hub, the cell will be the centre of road safety squads which will be formed  soon, said officials with the Motor Vehicles Department. The cell will also be in charge of making sure that buses adhere to the instructions of the department. An LCD screen has also been placed in front of the cell to display road safety tips.Transport Minister V S Sivakumar, MLAs Benny Behanan, Dominic Presentation and Hibi Eden, Mayor Tony Chammany, Mobility Hub Society managing director M Beena and top KSRTC officials were present at the function.Meanwhile, Regional Transport Officer T J Thomas said that the officials, on Friday, seized a bus which was operating through the hub without proper fitness and tax-related documents.
