KANPUR: The
district election officer, on Tuesday, had lodged a case against
Samajwadi Party candidate
Lal Singh Tomar under Peoples Representation Act.
In a review meeting for implementation of election code, it came to light that Tomar had convened a meeting and addressed public at Bhairampur (Baripal) without seeking permission. A notice was served. Since he could not give a proper reply, a case against him was lodged with
Ghatampur police.
Similarly, a case against BJP candidate
Devendra Singh Bhole was registered. Bhole had convened a meeting of intellectuals at a guest house in Moosa Nagar and hosted a dinner party. A case was registered against him under Peoples Representation Act.
