Golden Bay student Luke Norman has been awarded the Challenger Institutes of Technology Vocational Education and Training (VET) in schools Student of the Year Award.
Norman (17) was rewarded by Challenger’s panel of judges for his diligent efforts during classroom tasks and assessments and his glowing work placement references from defence industry company Raytheon.
A student at Comet Bay College, Luke is a participant in the School Pathways Program, a national partnership between the Federal Government, Defence Materiel Organisation and the WA Department of Education.
The program supports school-based pathways in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in more than 20 public schools.
Luke topped the regional division of the 2013 Worldskills Australia VETiS Competition in the Electrotechnology category.
