Azad ensured massive development: Bhalla

JAMMU, Apr 15: Senior Congress leader and Minister for Housing, Raman Bhalla today said that Ghulam Nabi Azad who is contesting from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency is a visionary politician and a statesman who helped J&K to develop on modern lines and brought in sea changes here during his tenure as Chief Minister.
Addressing various public meetings to garner support for Ghulam Nabi Azad in Drapar, Khel Chinota, Adarsh Colony, Moara and Christian Colony in district Udhampur Bhalla said that brief tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister witnessed massive development and people still recall those days.
He said that Azad during his tenure as CM took many historical decisions ranging from creation of eight new districts, implementation of Roshni Act, opening of Poonch-Rawalakote road, construction of Mughal Road, construction of Yatri Niwas, Haj House and enactment of stringent Anti Corruption Laws. These measures and developments were all aimed at helping people of all three regions of the State.
Bhalla added that Azad in his capacity as Union Health Minister sanctioned five new Medical Colleges, many hospitals and sub-district centres for the State which will definitely lead the State towards achieving self reliance in health sector.
Raman Bhalla added that massive construction of bridges and flyovers besides initiation of projects like Tawi Lake, river view front, ropeway connecting Bagh-e-Bahu to old city, development of park and gardens in almost every sector of posh residential areas, planning for setting up of new housing colonies, widening of roads and establishment of colleges and universities were all aimed at developing urban areas to meet peoples needs and growing demands.
Urging people to vote for Ghulam Nabi Azad, Raman Bhalla said that various schemes launched by Central Government helped people reap benefits. He said that it was because Coalition Government restored peace and brought an order into the system of governance that State developed. Implementation of all central schemes in the State ably also helped seek maximum benefits even in remotest areas of the State, he added.
