Nikhat Zareen wins opening bout

Wins her opening bout against Turkey’s Istik Neriman
New Delhi: India’s boxers began their World Youth Championships campaign on a bright note with three of them advancing to the second round after winning their opening bouts at Sofia, Bulgaria, on Tuesday.
Nizamabad’s Nikhat Zareen (51kg) won in the women’s competition, while Sathish Kumar (56kg) and Shyam Kakara (49kg) advanced in the men’s event. The championship doubles as a qualifying tournament for the Youth Olympics, scheduled from August 16 to 28 in China.
Nikhat, who had won a silver at the previous edition, beat Turkey’s Istik Neriman 3-0 and will next face Korea’s Sukyeong Lee, who got a first round bye. Sathish, on the other hand, out punched Hungary’s Nandor Csoka 3-0 in his campaign opener.
