Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho hailed Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah after he helped the Blues earn a hard-fought win against Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Salah produced a lively display as Chelsea claimed a 1-0 win over Stoke, thanks to a second-half goal from Senegalese striker Demba Ba.

"I think he has the potential to be a very exciting player," Mourinho told Chelsea magazine on Tuesday.

"He has come from a different situation to most of the squad, because he was playing in Switzerland before he came here, and in Egypt before that, so he has to adapt to his surroundings here.

"He has incredible pace and he is comfortable receiving the ball in space, like a traditional winger, so he offers us another way to beat the defence."

The 22-year-old has scored two goals for Chelsea since joining from Swiss side Basel last January, including a fine strike in the team's 6-0 drubbing of London rivals Arsenal
