(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Podar International School students shine: Four students of Podar International School successfully cleared the first level of the National Talent Search (NTS) exam 2013 conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi. Atharva Pande secured 85 marks, Maitreya Sonawane, 83, Abhishek Kulkarni, 79 and Vishwanath Mudliyar scored 70 marks.



RIS student wins laurels: Atharva Deore, a standard IX student of Rasbihari International School (RIS) stood eighth in the International Informatics Olympiad (IIO) organized by the Silver Zone Foundation. The IIO is a test of competence and proficiency in computer science and is held annually at the national and international levels. The Atharva was rewarded a wrist watch by the foundation.

Ambedkar Jayanti celebrated: Matoshree Damayanti Educational, Social, Cultural and Charitable Trust's Universal Academy celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday wherein the life story of Ambedkar was narrated to the students.


Pink Day at school: The pre-primary students of the Global Vision International School celebrated Pink Day recently. All the classes were decorated with pink-coloured decorations like ribbons, balloons, flowers, pink umbrellas, etc. Students came to school in pink dresses. Teachers introduced the colour pink to students on the day and activities like foot printing, umbrella-making and butterfly decoration were conducted using the colour.

Genius hunt challenge at WHIS: To enable students negotiate in the competitive world outside the school portals, Wisdom High International School (WHIS) organised an inter-class genius hunt challenge for the senior students. The challenge conducted in three rounds tested the general aptitude, reasoning, life skills, general awareness and artistic acumen of the participants. All students were invited to take part in the contest which eventually culminated in the emergence of three genius contestants who were felicitated with trophies and certificates.

Students of RIS organize mini market: As a part of their learning, the students of grade IV planned and organized a mini market in the school. They made flower pots, wrote story and puzzle books, made ornamental jewellery on their own and kept them for sale. Students made promotional materials like brochures and advertisements as well using print and information and communication technology (ICT) tools. They used their communication skills to market their products.

On another occasion, grade VI students showcased their learning through visuals, skit presentations and ICT presentations in an exhibition. The students explored the theme, "sharing the planet" by studying different environmental and social issues. The students chose to explore social and environmental issues like child labour, child trafficking, assault on women, early girl marriages, domestic violence, corruption and poverty, cruelty to animals, judiciary, global warming and pollution. They worked in groups to explore the causes and effects of these issues on human life and actions they can take to control them.

Students presented their learning through stage performances like skits, mono acts, poetry presentation and dance and shared their presentations using web 2.0 tools like animate, go animate, movie maker and prezi.

A spell bee competition was organized for students of grades I to X along with the teachers which assessed the important skills of application, analysis and language phonology skills. It provided the students to manage their time effectively with ample of scope for co-ordination among houses.

Singing contest at Fravashi: A singing competition was organised for higher KG students of Fravashi Academy. Children sang songs in Hindi, Marathi and English and were judged by Archana Nipankar and Neha Wankhede.

The entire team of Fravashi International Academy celebrated 'Yellow Colour Day' with the onset of summer. Students of grades II, V and VII created awareness about the colour during the assembly saying that yellow represents happiness, fun, vitality, energy, inspiration and illumination.

Baby contest at Little Millennium: 'My baby strongest', a baby contest was organised by Educomp's Little Millennium School for children in the age group of 6 months to three years. It was aimed at raising community awareness and to inculcate health and nutrition habits in children at an early age for healthy living. The contest also promoted health consciousness among mothers regarding different factors affecting the health of children and detecting ill health and sickness in early stages and interaction with doctors. Around 325 children participated in the contest where free entry, free health check-up, free growth card for each participant, free nutritional guideline booklet and free health check-up for the participants' siblings were the highlights.

KK Wagh students win at national contest: Four students of electrical engineering department of K K Wagh Polytechnic College bagged first prize at a national level project competition held at Sir Visweswarya Institute of Technology, Nashik. Pandurang Sakhala, Gaurav Malode, Shubham Walekar and Avinash Apsunde made a project on home-based automation in which any appliance can be controlled through a mobile phone, like turning the lights, fans, heaters, etc on and off.
