Macdonald-Cartier Bridge Rehabilitation Project-Lane Reductions During Construction Work

Gatineau, QC (Marketwired) - Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise motorists that lane reductions will occur during rehabilitation work on the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge from April to November 2014. This will require the following lane closures:

  • From Monday to Friday-6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (morning peak hour)-three Ottawa-bound lanes and two Gatineau-bound lanes will be open to traffic.
  • From Monday to Friday-3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (afternoon peak hour)-two Ottawa-bound lanes and three Gatineau-bound lanes will be open to traffic.
  • During off-peak hours in the mornings and afternoons, two lanes will be open in each direction to traffic.
  • For specific work, more restrictive lane closures will be required between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., where one lane will be open in each direction.

In addition to these lane reductions, some short-term closures will be required during this construction period. These closures will take place during off-peak hours.

One of the sidewalks will always be open for pedestrians and cyclists. Signs will be in place to inform users which sidewalk to use.

The schedule may change due to weather conditions.

PWGSC encourages users to exercise caution when travelling in the construction zone and thanks them for their patience.
