INDORE: Eleven candidates from Indore, including the
Bhartiya Janata Party candidate and seven-time MP
Sumitra Mahajan, were served notices over
election expenditure by district election officer on Sunday. A total of 22 candidates are contesting from Indore.
Sumitra Mahajan has been served notices for not channelizing her expenditure through a bank account as per the rule. Mahajan has also manipulated records of expenditure on vehicles and hasn't shown expenditure on food and snacks of party activities
Mahajan was recently weighed against fruit, but she has not shown the price of fruits in her election expenditure.
Ravi Sariya, an independent candidate, was also served notice for not directing his election expenditure through a bank as per the rule.
Pramanand Tolani and
Rakesh Patel were given notices for making wrong entries in their election expenditure accounts.
Besides six candidates, including
Neha Sharma, Dharamdas Ahirwar, Ajit Kumar Patwa, Santosh Kumar, Ramchandra Vasainy and Ghanshyam Chandel have not submitted their election expenditure records yet.
All candidates have to submit their replies within 48 hours.
