INDORE: A youth was stabbed to death allegedly by a goon and his three friends at a religious programme in Hira Nagar area, here Sunday midnight. The youth, Ajay alias Chinu Sikarwar, 27, who had a clutch of criminal cases against him, was at the programme to get prasad for his pregnant wife Jyoti.
The youth and the alleged killers were close friends and five had dinner together at a roadside dhaba in Nyay Nagar on Sunday night.
It was during dinner Ajay, the listed goon Krishnapal Singh alias Don, Pradip Yadav and Krishnpal's nephews Chotu and Shubham Chouhan had a heated exchange of words, which later turned ugly.
The alleged murderers are residents of same Nanda Nagar area as was Ajay and all were said to have links with powerful politicians of the area.
DIG Indore said dispute over a residential plot triggered the stabbing. Efforts are on to nab the on the run killers, he added.
Primary investigations have revealed after the altercation during dinner, Ajay and his brother Manoj left the dhaba and came to a bhandara at Hira Nagar, the area close to Ajay's house.
When Krishnapal and Pradip came to know Ajay was present at bhandara, he along with others reached the spot and stabbed Ajay around 12.30 am.
The assailants fled from the spot and Ajay was rushed to a private hospital in a critical condition, where he died during the course of treatment.
"A case of murder and crime committed with common intent has been lodged against the four accused under sections 302 and 34 of the IPC, but no arrest has been made," Hira Nagar police station in charge Basant Mishra said on Monday.
