Pakistan finish second in SAJ C’ship

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan judo team finished second in the South Asian Judo (SAJ) Championship held in Nepal, winning three golds, three silvers and six bronze medals. Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) secretary Masood Ahmed said that Shah Hussain Shah, Ahmed Shahzad and Humaira Ashiq won the -100kg, +100kg and -48kg gold medals respectively while Afzal Bashir, Maryum Jabbar and Beenish Khan won -90kg, -52kg and -78kg silver medals respectively and Yasir Khan (-66kg), Javed Khan (-73kg), Karamat Butt (-81), Shumaila Gul (-57kg), Ambreen Ashiq (-63kg) and Fouzia (-70kg) won bronze medals. India won first position, Pakistan second, hosts Nepal third, Afghanistan fourth and Sri Lanka fifth position. In team event, Pakistan played male semifinals against Afghanistan, while Pakistani girls also faced India in semifinals.–Staff Reporter
