Ultimate Warrior died of a massive heart attack

An autopsy report has confirmed American pro wrestling icon The Ultimate Warrior died of a massive heart attack.

TMZ reports the medical examiner who conducted the autopsy concluded there was no foul play in the death of Ultimate Warrior, born James Brian Hellwig, who died suddenly on April 8.

No drugs or alcohol were in the star’s system at the time.

The medical examiner officially classified the death as “atherosclerotic/arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” otherwise known as heart disease.

He was reportedly clutching his chest outside an Arizona hotel at the time of his death.

Known for his face paint, which appeared to pay homage to warrior cultures like the Maori, Warrior was an icon to pro wrestling fans.

“WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior,” WWE said in a statement after his death.

“Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter.

“We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans.”

Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife, Dana, and his two daughters.
