Al-Sisi submits candidacy papers for Egypt's presidential elections

CAIRO, April 14 (KUNA) -- Egyptian former Defense Minister Field Marshal Abdulfattah Al-Sisi submitted candidacy papers on Monday for the May 26-27 presidential elections.
Al-Sisi's campaign said in a statement its legal advisor Mohammad Bahaa' Abu Shaqqa submitted the candidacy papers for the Presidential Elections Commission.
The Elections law stipulates that at least 25,000 people from 15 governorates should show support in writing so their candidate can run in elections. Al-Sisi has the support of 200,000 people.
A candidate should be an Egyptian national and born to Egyptian parents. Neither he nor his parents or wife should carry the nationality of another country.
A candidate should have clean criminal record. (end) rg.bs
