2 motorcyclists killed in Manikganj road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed and another injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Tepra area of Shibalaya Upazila in Manikganj district on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Baharul Islam, 24, son of Mosharraf Hossain of Boali village of the Upazila, and Suman Mia, 22, son of late Shakhawat Hossain of Natunpara village.

The injured, Wakil Ahmed, 23, was admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital at Savar in a critical condition.

Sub-Inspector of Barangail Highway Police outpost Nazmul Ahsan told bdnews24.com that Baharul and his two friends had gone out with his motorcycle in the morning to celebrate the Pahela Baishakh. When they reached Tepra area at around 11am, a Paturia-bound speeding bus of Suryamukhi Paribahan hit them.

Baharul and Sumon were rushed to Manikganj Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead.

The highway police seized the bus from Paturia ferry terminal area, but its driver and his assistant managed to escape.
