For wife Jinkee, husband Manny Pacquiao has nothing left to prove, ‘can retire anytime’

Jinkee Pacquiao said she supports his husband’s plan to continue boxing, but reiterated that he can already retire anytime after winning another world title.

Minutes after his unanimous victory over Timothy Bradley, Manny expressed his intention to continue fighting after wresting back the World Boxing Organization welterweight title from American Timothy Bradley on Saturday (Sunday, PHL time) in Las Vegas.

“I can fight for a couple more years,” said the Filipino boxing icon in an interview with HBO boxing broadcaster Larry Merchant.

In response, Jinkee said she wants her 35-year-old husband to hang up his gloves, although she expressed support for whatever plans the Pacman has.

“Siyempre susuportahan ko siya. Pero kasi mahirap na rin sa boxing, he is not getting any younger,” said Jinkee in an interview with radio station DZBB.

After successive losses to Bradley and rival Juan Manuel Marquez, Pacquiao showed glimpses of his old form in the Bradley rematch, while setting himself up for a couple more megabuck fights, including potentially, the long-awaited bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Jinkee, however, feels Pacquiaohas already proven himself with the win over Bradley in their rematch.

“Wala na siyang dapat patunayan. He did his best. He can retire anytime,” said Jinkee.

Unlike in previous fights, Jinkee was not able to watch his husband live from Las Vegas being pregnant with their fifth child.

After the hard-earned victory, Jinkee said the family is now planning a much-deserved vacation.

“Siguro bakasyon na muna kami. Kailangan siya makasama ng mga bata,” said Jinkee, who is also the vice-governor of Sarangani province. - Reuben Terrado, SPIN
