The world record for the highest number of people wearing onesies has been broken during the weekend by a large gathering at an UK theme park.

The onesie craze was unleashed on Saturday at Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordshire when more than three thousand people dressed in colorful one-piece jumpsuits headed to the center of the park to take part in the Guinness World Record attempt.

However, according to Daily Mail, the gathering could have been even bigger, but hundreds of people were stuck in long tailbacks near the Drayton Manor Entrance. Due to the unexpectedly high number of visitors, the park was forced to close its gates by 1.30pm and announce that they were full to capacity.

Those who managed to enter the resort were asked to gather at its central triangle so that officials could count them. A total of 3,152 onesie wearers were counted and the theme park officials are confident that they have beaten the previous record, which was set by Ringwood School in Hampshire with 1,184 people wearing all-in-one outfits.

Colin Bryan, the director of the park, said, “The atmosphere today has been electric and for the second year running the weather has been in our favour. Seeing such a huge crowd gathered in their onesies was quite a spectacle and there were some very interesting styles.”

The attempt has to be authenticated by Guinness World Records before being made official, but it's almost certain it will be validated as it nearly triples the previous record.

People who turned up to join the theme park's aim to break the record enjoyed a reduced entry fee of just £5 ($8.3 or €6), down from £36 ($60 or €43.5). They paraded through the park dressed in tigers, pandas, Spidermen and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

However, the fun didn't stop there, as the visitors also set a new Guinness World Record for the longest scream by a crowd of people. The record breakers produced a collective scream that reached 80 decibels and lasted for eight minutes and 45 seconds. This beat the previous record of just two minutes and five seconds.

People came from all over the country to help break the two records. Ricky Williams, 28, for instance, traveled all the way from South Wales dressed in a chicken onesie and truly enjoyed the event.

“It’s brilliant. I follow around anything which attempts a world record. It all started here four years ago when the morph suits and now this. It’s a lot of fun. It’s good being part of a group and getting to see the group photograph,” he said.
